The Art Of Manliness – An Original!

The Art Of ManlinessToday I want to show you an excellent example of how being a little bit different with the websites you set up and also being a little bit different in the way you brand yourself and your website can literally make you an overnight success on the Internet.

The website I’m talking about is called – The Art Of Manliness – and it’s one of the best examples I’ve ever seen of how originality (and a good sense of humour) can transform a brand new website into an instant success. In this case a “phenomenal” success!

I can remember when Brett McKay first set up this website in January 2008. I was working with Brian Gardner from StudioPress at the time and Brett was a customer (another great example of how cool Brian’s themes are!) so I was helping him out with a few things and I remember telling him that I thought the idea was absolutely brilliant. I’d never seen anything quite like it before and I doubt you will have either – it’s a VERY cool idea!

As the name suggests, The Art Of Manliness deals with, well, all things “manly” and it covers topics such as:

The site’s goal is to uncover “the lost art of manliness” and over the course of the last year it’s attracted almost 30,000 subscribers, so there’s obviously an awful lot of men out there who’d like to discover the lost art of manliness too!

It’s educational, quirky, bizarrely brilliant and quite often “laugh out loud” funny.

But, most of all, from our point of view, it’s the perfect example of how to build a totally original website that generates the majority of its income from affiliate programs and that really stands out from the crowd.

You should think about this the next time you’re starting a new website, especially so if you’re going to be operating in a competitive niche. Think about what you can do differently from your competition, how you can put a new slant on an old idea, or what you can do to stand out from the crowd. You don’t need a completely original idea like The Art Of Manliness, you simply need do “something” to grab your reader’s attention and ensure they remember you.

It’s the “being different” factor that often makes the difference between roaring success and desperate failure with a website, so you should always do your best to be a little bit different from the rest in everything you do.
